We are grateful to The Recorder for recently featuring Katonah-Purdys United Methodist Church and our pastor, Rev. Matt Curry, in a story that highlights our congregation's commitment to building community, extending hospitality, and living out our faith through service.
Located at 5 Bedford Road in Katonah, New York, our church has been a part of the community for more than 125 years. Today, we continue that legacy by creating a welcoming space where people of all ages and backgrounds can worship, build meaningful relationships, and serve their neighbors.
A Pastor Rooted in the Community
Rev. Matt Curry officially began serving Katonah-Purdys United Methodist Church last summer, bringing with him years of ministry leadership and a deep connection to the community. Having called Katonah home for more than a decade, he understands the values that make this town special—neighborliness, compassion, and a strong sense of belonging.
As shared in The Recorder, Rev. Matt's vision is simple yet powerful: to help the church become a gathering place not only for Sunday worship, but also for friendship, creativity, service, and community life throughout the week.

Building on a Rich History
Katonah-Purdys United Methodist Church traces its roots back to 1837, with our church home standing at its current location since 1900. More recently, the congregations of Katonah and Purdys came together as one church family, united by a shared mission: Loving Boldly. Serving Joyfully. Leading Courageously.
This merger represents more than combining two congregations—it reflects a commitment to growing stronger together while honoring the rich traditions that have shaped both communities.
