Giving & Service

Care Packages for College Students

From this Sunday through October 23, we're collecting items to send ten care packages to the college students in our churches. Some of their favorites include Twizzlers, Kit Kats, Kinder Joys, Veggie Straws, tortilla chips, chocolate chip M & M cookies, Pringles, breath mints, granola bars, protein bars, hot chocolate packets, soup packets, or Halloween candy. You could also bring hand sanitizer, gum, pens, homemade baked goods, or gift cards for Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. You can also make a donation to help with the cost of shipping the packages. Make checks payable to either Katonah or Purdys UMC and write "care packages" in the memo line.

Table of Grace

The mission of Table of Grace is to offer nourishment to anyone who is hungry physically or spiritually, or both. If you can help any Saturday to prepare and/or distribute bag lunches (using supplies that are provided by the Hudson Valley Food Bank), contact Bonnie Hyatt at jesusfishlady@gmail.com. We are serving bag lunches on the sidewalk outside the First UMC of Brewster until the colder weather begins.

From Around the Cooperative Parish

Katonah & Purdys United Methodist Churches are now part of the newly-expanded Northern Westchester Cooperative Parish along with First UMC Brewster, Trinity-Boscobel UMC in Buchanan, Drew UMC in Carmel, Asbury UMC in Croton, the UMC of Mt. Kisco, Peekskill UMC, Grace UMC of Putnam Valley, the UMC of Shrub Oak, and Yorktown UMC.

There will be a meeting of the Cooperative Parish Council on Sunday, September 25 at 3 pm at Yorktown UMC. The laity representatives to the Parish Council are Bonnie Hyatt from Purdys and Lori Corradino from Katonah.
